Opening hours

RHIZOMA runs from 25 May to 13 July 2025 and is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm, including public holidays.

Tip: A visit to RHIZOMA takes about 3 to 4 hours. We therefore recommend you start between 11am and 1pm, so you have enough time to see everything at your leisure.

Tickets

Tickets can only be bought on site at the MASEREEL box office (please pay contactless).

A ticket remains valid throughout the biennial, but only for locations you have not yet visited. You can therefore spread your visit over several days.

Groups (+10 pers.) should book in advance via info[at]masereel.art.

Prices per person

Standard ticket: €12

Discount holders: €10
(Visitors < 25 years and > 65 years; Employees of the Flemish Government; Holders of a teacher’s card; Inhabitants of Kasterlee, Lichtaart and Tielen; Groups of 10 persons or more)

Students (< 26 years, with student card): €5

Children < 12 years & ICOM members: free

Schools: 1 free accompanying person per 10 pupils

UiTPAS holders (only on Fridays): €5

Paying visitors will receive a discount in the bookshop during RHIZOMA.

Getting there

Starting and finishing point:

MASEREEL
Masereeldijk 5, 2460 Kasterlee, Belgium

By public transport: 

Take the train to Turnhout or Geel and change to bus 49 towards Kasterlee.

Get off at Houtum bus stop. Turn right at the traffic lights into Zaardenstraat and take the first street on the right (Masereeldijk). MASEREEL is 200 metres on your right.

Tip: With a (folding) bike? From Tielen station you can cycle to MASEREEL in about 22 minutes, right through Hoge Rielen nature reserve.

By car:

Coming from Antwerp or Eindhoven via the E34: exit 24 (Turnhout Centrum)
Coming from Lummen via the E313: exit 23 (Geel-West)

Follow the N19 in the direction of Kasterlee until the intersection with the N123; turn off in the direction of Kasterlee and follow the arrows.

There is a spacious temporary visitor parking at the Masereeldijk / Heiblok junction. For disabled visitors, there is a smaller visitor parking on the MASEREEL domain. There are also some charging stations available there for electric cars.

By bicycle:

MASEREEL is located nearby junction 87.

Charging points for electric bikes are available.

Trail

Starting and finishing point: MASEREEL Masereeldijk 5, 2460 Kasterlee

Walking route: the visit to RHIZOMA is along a loop-shaped trail of about 5 km and is an experience that takes about half a day. We therefore recommend you start between 11am and 1pm, so you have enough time to see everything at your leisure.

Welcome desk

Your visit to RHIZOMA starts at the welcome desk of MASEREEL arts centre. With your ticket, you’ll receive a detailed brochure to guide you through the experience.

Children aged 6 to 12 will get a fun booklet with creative assignments.

Be sure to browse the bookshop afterwards!

Accessibility

All venues are accessible to wheelchair users and visitors with strollers, with the exception of the first floor at Klaveren Drie.

We ask that you take rubbish with you or throw it away in the dustbins provided. This is how we keep Kasterlee clean and pleasant for everyone.
